Arrests made after assault

Nelson Police investigating a serious assault have today arrested two people. The arrests came after a search warrant was executed at a Richmond address this morning.

The incident occurred about 11pm on Friday in the driveway of the victim’s home. Police were notified by staff at Nelson Hospital when the victim presented for treatment to several cuts to his head and body.

As a result of this morning’s search warrant a 35 year old Richmond woman has been charged in relation to a number of items found at the house, including methamphetamine, drug utensils and a firearm. She will appear in the Nelson District Court on Monday 19 October.

A 33 year old Richmond man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and unlawful possession of a firearm. He has been held in custody to appear in court on Wednesday 14 October.

Inquiries to identify a second male involved in the assault are ongoing.
