Nelson Bays Police have located Motueka man Jahdai Brice Kennard, 28, who was wanted for failing to appear in the Nelson District Court on 24 August on assault charges and also for breaching court release conditions.

Kennard was also required to be spoken to in relation to a pursuit and firearms incident in Motueka on August 20.

He was located this afternoon at a Riwaka address and arrested without incident by members of the Tasman CIB and Armed Offenders Squad.

Detective sergeant Chris Roberts says police had received significant support from the public during the last month and the information people had supplied had been invaluable to the investigation.

“We are very thankful for the support we have received from the Motueka community and pleased these matters can now be safely dealt with in the appropriate forum.”

Kennard will appear in the Nelson District Court tomorrow charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Dangerous Driving and Breaching a Protection Order.
