With redevelopment of the Suter art gallery nearing the halfway mark Nelson Live caught up with Suter director Julie Catchpole to find out what’s been going on and where things are headed with the Bridge Street Premises.
Julie says she believes the gallery will be re-open on the new premises towards the end of next year.
“It would be a dream if we could open to coincide with arts festival next year, we’ll have to see about that.”
She says one of the tricky tasks when relocating back to the old redeveloped premises from their temporary Halifax Street gallery will be transporting the artworks back.
“We have to set up new storage systems in the new building and that’s something we’re really looking forward to; having everything fitted out and equipped to safely look after our many wonderful artworks.”
