The largest Mike 7s Junior Rugby Tournament was held yesterday morning at Greenmeadows with 55 teams contending from Nelson, Marlborough and Tasman.

The tournament has been running for 20 years, 18 of which have been organised by Chris Shand.
“This is just the climax of the season for the kids. It’s their last game, all the teams get behind and all the kids get a great game,” Chris says.
Teams set up tents with sausage sizzles and drinks for half time and the end of game.
The rain held off for most of the morning but the damp conditions proved for a muddy end to the tournament.
