Sprig beer label voting starts

Sprig & Fern patrons will have the chance to decide the look of the brewery’s next Pilsner label after four paintings were short-listed for the honour.

For the second year in a row, Art Expo Nelson and Sprig & Fern are offering a unique opportunity for one New Zealand artist to have their artwork on a beer label. Four finalists have been chosen and voting begins this week.

Everyone who visits one of their nine Sprig & Fern taverns between now and September 12 can vote on their favourite image.
Sprig & Fern Brewery owner and head brewer, Tracy Banner, has no doubt that customers will enjoy the voting opportunity.

“There was quite a bit of hype in the taverns last year about the American Pale Ale label,” Tracy says. “I can see plenty of votes being cast and lots of discussions happening.

“Anyone is welcome to pop in and vote too. They don’t have to buy a drink to qualify.”

The winner will be announced at Art Expo Nelson in Labour Weekend where the people’s favourite will be revealed for the first time. The artist will win $1000 in prize money.

The four finalists are from Tasman, Nelson and Temuka. Their identities remain anonymous during the voting process.
