Police have also made inquiries with family and known associates of Jadhai to locate him. Jahdai remains a person of interest and Police would like to make contact with him as soon as possible.

Detective Inspector Kevin Burke said Police had confirmed Jahdai was at the scene of the firearms incident in Motueka on Thursday afternoon and that he was the driver of the vehicle being pursued.

During the armed standoff Jahdai ran away. Police have not been able contact with him since the incident and are concerned for his welfare.

Detective Inspector Burke urged Jahdai to make contact with Police.

“I would advise him to either call Police and we can arrange to have a chat, or come to the nearest Police station,” he said.
