Police test Liquor sales law

Police, along with Nelson Marlborough District Health Board and Tasman District Council conducted a controlled purchase operation (CPO) in the Tasman area on the evening of Friday 21st August 2015.

A total of 16 licensed premises were visited by two 16yr old volunteers in Richmond, Mapua, Brightwater, Wakefield and Tapawera. This included testing six off-licence premises which included supermarkets and bottle stores and 10 on licensed premises.

All of the premises met their obligations under the Sale of Liquor Act and none sold alcohol to the volunteers.

Liquor Licensing Sergeant Malcolm Drummond said the result was very pleasing for the agencies involved.

β€œIt is very encouraging to see everyone complying with their licence conditions and being responsible hosts.”

Those premises visited will be contacted by police and advised of the result.
