A 20 year old coffee worker is “absolutely devastated” that his car has been stolen for the second time in 12 months.

Ben McLeod works at Sublime Coffee and he parked his car on the island in the middle of Haven Rd this morning. During his lunch break he went to fetch his packed lunch from the car, only find the car had been stolen.

It’s the second time Ben has had that car stolen. Last year it went missing from outside his parent’s house in Stoke but was found ten days later in Washington Valley.

Ben’s mum, Peta McLeod, says he’s “absolutely devastated”.

“He’s leaving Nelson in a few weeks to go and work with orphans in Malawi with his girlfriend and he was going to sell the car to his brother to help fund the trip.”

Also in the car were some camera lenses for his Canon DSLR camera.

Peta says she has posted photos of the car on Facebook in the hope that it may be recognised. “It has a really distinctive sticker on the right bumper that can’t be removed so we’re hoping that well help people recognise it.”

The car only has third party insurance. “It’s crap,” says Peta. “Total crap.”
