Jahdai has a warrant to arrest and Police also need to speak to him in relation to a pursuit and firearms incident in Motueka last Thursday afternoon.

Overnight Police located the green BMW Jahdai had been known to use.

Jahdai is believed to have been driving the car during a police pursuit that ended in the shooting of Ford Hurinui who pointed a gun at police last Thursday.

Detective Inspector Kevin Burke said Police were extremely grateful for the support and information received over recent days from the Motueka community.

“We’ve had a lot of people come forward with information and the members of the public we have spoken with in relation to our inquiries have been very cooperative,” he said.

To date no sightings of Jahdai have been confirmed and Detective Inspector Burke said Police held concerns for his welfare.

While Police warned the public not to approach Jahdai, Detective Inspector Burke said he did not have any immediate fears for the public in the Motueka area as a result of Jahdai still being on the run.

Detective Inspector Burke encouraged anyone with information that may assist in locating Jahdai to call Motueka Police Ph 528 1220 or Crimestoppers Ph 0800 555 111.
