Children on four holiday programmes run by the YMCA spent yesterday baking and prepping their stalls for their market day held this afternoon.

There are plenty of sweet treats for sale including cupcakes, muffins and rice bubble bars as well as stress balls, face painting and play doh.

There is also a lineup of cars outside for the car wash which is only $5.

Money raised from a children’s market will be donated to the Nelson SPCA.

Children’s services manager Yasna Keys says the charity was picked as she loves animals and they had previously donated money to guide dog training.

“We’ve got an early childcare facility that raised money for guide dogs. The SPCA just flowed on from that.”

The market is open to the public today at the YMCA hall, 156 Toi Toi Street, until 2pm.
