A range of new gym equipment has been installed along the Maitai Walkway upstream of the Collingwood Street Bridge.
The equipment is similar to the exercise areas installed around the Tahunanui Beach Reserve and has been funded partly by the City of Nelson Civic Trust who covered 75% of the costs.
The City of Nelson Civic Trust is an independent non-profit organisation established in 1973. Funds are raised through donations and bequests.
The Civic Trust has been responsible for floodlighting of the Nelson Cathedral tower and funding stained glass windows in the Museum and Cathedral. They also established the performance area in 1908 Square.
