With everything from peppercorns to eggs, cheese, smoked fish and cordials the Nelson Market has no shortage in inspiration for budding recipe writers.

The Market is running a recipe competition in conjunction with the Nelson’s Feast for the Senses July Festival next month.

The competition is designed to showcase the array of food found at the market and every entry must include at least two ingredients from the weekly event.

Entries can range from soups to mains and desserts.

Nita Knight, owner of the Nelson Market says she is very excited about the possibilities for this competition.

“There are so many superb producers of high quality foodstuffs in our region and this is a great chance to showcase them in an innovative way. I hope as many people as possible will get their aprons on and start experimenting”.

Top Nelson chefs from Comida & DeVilles restaurants will select the winning entries. The deadline for entries is Sat 25 July with
