A fire that started in a King Salmon owned storage facility this afternoon was lucky not to have spread to an adjacent building.
Three fire appliances, a fire rescue truck and a HAZMAT vehicle attended the Beatty Street blaze just off Bolt Road.
Senior station officer Brian O’Donnell says, due to the nature of the building and the fact it is attached to another building under a different lease, extra fire appliances were called in to help.
“We transmitted a second alarm which gives us four pumps instead of the normal two.”
He says the fire crews managed to successfully put the fire out and we’re just dampening down hot spots and checking for anything they might have missed.
“To do this we used two low pressure delivery houses and breathing apparatus crews.”
The cause of the fire is still unknown and is being investigated.
