Crumbling footpaths along Rocks Rd are being repaired by contractors this
Goleman Industrial Rigging is replacing the rusting metal mesh and crumbling
concrete by boxing up and framing the underside of the footpath. They place
new mesh under the footpath and pour concrete around it through a hole
drilled in the top of the path to form a new slab underneath.
Contractors also have to block the drainage holes from the road to the sea
wall when working in wet weather to avoid the runoff getting into the work.
The system was used to repair three seawall footpath bays as a trial last
year. More footpath bays are planned to be fixed later this year.
The site is difficult due to the exposure and timing of the tides.
