There was an upset in the rugby league results with the Wanderers Wolves beating the Richmond Rabbits, 28 to 16 at Ngawhatu Park last weekend.
The Wanderers Wolves were collectively very strong across the park with the two big front rowers, Lucaster Mati and Christian Tupuola setting a platform up the middle.
“We’ve worked pretty hard to get where we are today” says Wanderers Wolves coach, Lawrence Curdy.
Richmond Rabbits coach, Dion Charles says his team was well and truly beaten by a bigger and better team on the day.
“They are a big side and it became pretty clear that due to three of our props out with injuries we were lacking size up front on Saturday,” says Dion.
He was proud of his players but says they were overcome by the size of the Wanderers Wolves. Sam Hedges played well for the Richmond Rabbits and new member of the team, Dexter Buchanan showed good form playing a full 80mins at prop. Hooker Craig Shepherd also managed to play a full game despite fracturing his wrist during the match.
