Sewerage leak posed ‘no significant risk’

Repairs on the sewerage leak at Corder Park have been completed and water sampling results have confirmed there is no significant risk to public health.

The minor leak was discovered by contractors working on the construction of the new sewer pumping station at Corder Park on Tuesday.

The risk to public health was assessed as being low but signage warning against recreational activity has was erected along the Haven foreshore north of the city centre as a precautionary measure. It has since been taken down.

Members of the public are advised that a permanent ban on shellfish gathering remains in force.
