Local doco to screen in New York festival


A documentary about the region’s Friends of Flora conservation group by New Zealand born film maker, Owen Kilgour has been officially selected in the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival in New York.

The short film, showcases the work of Friends of Flora, while capturing some stunning imagery of Kahurangi National Park and its inhabitants.

The Wildlife Conservation Film Festival is the premier event of its kind in North America with more than 90 documentary films representing over 30 countries.

Friends of Flora have been working hard since 2001 to restore a healthy ecosystem to the flora stream catchment of Kahurangi National Park.

Over the years, Friends of Flora have successfully reintroduced two of New Zealand’s most endangered bird species into the Kahurangi National Park, whio blue duck and the great spotted kiwi.
