Ships in Port Nelson Today


One of the more interesting vessels to enter Port Nelson today is a suction dredger, The Pelican, arriving at midday today to the Kingsford Quay East. Built in 1979 she has an average speed of 6.2 knots and is 11.2m wide and 62.5m long. She is coming into port to lay up for six weeks. The boat can dredge 13.2m deep and has a volume of 965 cubic metres.

The Spirit of Canterbury container vessel will also be birthing at the Brunt Q carrying containers from Lyttelton at 6.12pm

Departing at 11.30am is the Jens Maersk container vessel. She is leaving the Main Wharf South carrying containers to Wellington.
