Quakers organise church steps war protest

A war protest of New Zealand’s military deployment took place on the church steps this afternoon.

The protest was attended by both women for peace and quakers for peace and was co-ordinated by the Peace Movement Aotearoa as part of a nationwide initiative. Protest were held in various centres around the country at 5pm.

Peace vigils called for an increase in humanitarianism and diplomacy in the middle east and opposition to the military deployment to Iraq.
