Nelson economy grows

The size of Tasman and Nelson’s economy increased by 7.8 percent in the year ended March 2014 according to latest figures from Statistics New Zealand.

The increase in regional gross domestic product (GDP) for the year ended March 2014 was due to the agriculture (mainly horticulture) and manufacturing industries.

In the five-year period 2009–14, the Tasman and Nelson economy increased by 25.4 percent – above the national movement of 22.4 percent.
