Club rugby is back

The 2015 club rugby season kicks off today and the Tasman Rugby Union have been very kind to us rugby fans by scheduling all the games in the one place.

All three senior A games will be played at Trafalgar Park today, the first between Marist and Kahurangi kicking off at 1pm, before Nelson play Stoke at 2.30pm and defending champions Waimea Old Boys play Wanderers at 4pm.

The “festival of rugby” is the perfect way to start the club rugby season and while all of the match ups are interesting, the replay of last year’s final between Waimea and Wanderers is almost certain to be the highlight of the day.

Waimea, the two-time defending champions, will head into the match as favourites but Wanderers have been the team to beat in the early rounds over the past few years and they’ll be keen to avenge their final loss last season.

For those following senior B rugby, all of the “town” teams will be playing at Neale Park.

Waimea and Wanderers kick off at 1pm, Marist and Riwaka at 2.30pm and Nelson and Stoke at 4pm.
