Bangladesh cricketers received a traditional Maori welcome onto Whakatu Marae after arriving from Melbourne on Monday.
Speeches were given by members of Whakatu Marae as well as the players who spoke in Bengali.
Mayor Rachel Reese attended the powhiri and invited the players to spend some time exploring the city and sample the food if they had time.
Tapu was gifted to the players who in turn gifted a signed Bangladesh flag.
The powhiri was completed with a hongi. The pressing of noses and foreheads to share the breath of life.
