Rescue services test waters of multi-agency approach.

A marine search and rescue exercise was held this morning by Nelson Police.

A number of vessels were involved in the exercise with police, fire Service, ambulance, coastguard, surf rescue and volunteers all engaging in part of a simulated scenario.

The scenario is designed to exercise a multi-agency response to a maritime rescue scenario.

Vessels will be on the water until around 1pm and nearby residents are advised smoke will be visible from the port area during this time.
