A mini Ecofest is being held in Victory this weekend, an event that is targeted as living smarter.
Ecofest @ Victory is a smaller version of the annual Ecofest and follows up on a similar concept in Golden Bay last year. The event will share a range of interactive demonstrations and advice to reduce your home power bill and save money at the supermarket. “Ecofest @ Victory is all about living well for less,” says Nelson City councillor Ruth Copeland. “More people are hungry for ways to do this and keen for really practical advice on making your home warmer, growing your own food and saving money on your household bills,” she says.
Among the stalls and demonstrations, there will be a “waste oil amnesty” where people are encouraged to bring along their waste oils to the event, as Envirowaste will be providing large plastic containers for people to pour the oil into.
Much of the oil will be recycled and used as an energy fuel.
Ecofest @ Victory is this Saturday, May 11 from 10am to 5pm at the Victory Community Centre.
