Schoolboy robbed at knifepoint


Police are investigating an incident this morning in which a 14 year old boy was robbed on his way to school.

The boy was walking along the Railway Reserve about8.40am, just north of Nelson Intermediate, when he was approached by a man who threatened him with a knife and demanded he hand over his school bag.

The offender rifled the boy’s bag and took his lunch before running off. The boy was very shaken by the incident.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the Railway Reserve area around8.40amtoday.

The offender is described as male, possibly Maori, in his 30s. He was about 6ft 2in and rough shaven. He was wearing a grey beanie, blue-green raincoat and shiny blue-black track pants.
