Brides prepare for fundraiser

Wedding fever is hitting the region with the countdown to the Bride of the Year show now into the final fortnight.

The show is a fundraiser for the Nelson Regional Hospice Trust and it got an early start this year with supporter Paula Holder, of Paula’s Preschool, dressing as a bride and selling raffle tickets at the Saturday market.

Organiser Heather Harley, says it was fantastic to have Paula working the market and helping raise awareness about the show. “Amazing support, this year’s show will be amazing because of all the people who come along to be a part of it and help make it what it is.”

The Bride of the Year Show is being held at the Hope Community Church on Saturday July 14 from 7.45pm and Heather says she is still accepting last minute brides who would like to get that dress back on for one more public showing.

It is open for all brides married from June 16 2011 until the same date this year.

The show will feature the judging for the bride of the year competition, giveaways, a variety concert, dancing exhibition and a fantastic silent auction. Heather says it will be a great night out. “It’s so much fun with heaps going on, you will never get bored and it’s always a great crowd of people. I encourage everyone to come along and enjoy themselves.”
