Car Company Stoke Nayland tightened their stranglehold on the TPL club cricket competition as they were victorious in the only completed game on Saturday.

Rain intervened in all three other clashes which caused no results.
Car Company Stoke Nayland v WTTU: Car Company Stoke Nayland amassed a formidable 267/7 in their allotted 37 overs at the Marsden Rec.

While Chris Dittmer gave them a tidy enough start, both opening bowlers for WTTU also begun well with Sam Baxendine picking up wickets and Josh Newport looking equally threatening.

At 105/6, the visitors were probably just in the ascendancy. At this stage, the solid Stoke Nayland skipper Brendan Hodgson joined the in-form Paddy Howes in a 121-run onslaught. Hodgson attacked from the outset and dispatched five sixes and two boundaries in his 70-ball innings.

Howes was unstoppable as he combined beautiful stroke play, brute strength and outlandish inventiveness in his second century of the season.

Stoke Nayland continue to reap the benefits of young English medium Tom Chambers as he picked up three top order wickets and came back for another three to complete the innings.

Cross had a period of dominance as he smote seven sixes and three fours in his powerful knock. When he left, however, the impetus in the run chase diminished.  WTTU showed good intent right to the finish with Sam Baxendine and Dean Hawley hitting out purposefully, but in the end the total remained comfortably out of reach.
ACOB v Wakatu: The short time that were played at Botanics was just enough to see a pugnacious cameo from Matthew Grimes before stumps were pulled after 14 overs.

Wanderers/Motueka v Falcons: Only 16 overs of play was possible before weather intervened at Brightwater Domain.
Scorecards: Car Company Stoke Nayland 267/7 (Paddy Howes 122*, Brendan Hodgson 53, Chris Dittmer 41, Sam Baxendine 4/55)
