The Mike Pero Nelson Giants have nailed down one of their big-man spots with the signing of 6 foot 9 inch Tall Black Tohiraukura Smith-Milner.
Tohi, a Tall Black at FIBA World Cup Qualifiers 2017 and the FIBA Asia Cup, is a development player with Melbourne United in the Australian National Basketball League.
After a successful junior career, where he collected a national Secondary Schools title and played in national age group teams, he played a year in the at Polk State College in the United States.
Chair of the Giants board, Bill Dahlberg says Tohi has a lot of potential.
“The Nelson Giants have a proud history of developing talent and we look forward to Tohi growing his game plus adding some excitement for the Giants’ fans,” he says.
The news comes a week after the Giants secured the services of Kyle Adnam, who also plays for Melbourne United in the ANBL.
