The gates of Tahunanui’s tennis courts will be thrown open this Saturday, giving anyone a chance to come down and give the sport a go.
The annual open day at the Tahunanui Tennis Club is always popular, with a morning session for younger players and an afternoon session for adults.
Club president Craig Welsh says the day is the perfect opportunity for those thinking of giving the sport a go, or getting back into it.
“We hold the open day to encourage new players along and to kick off the season for the current members.”
The club has 89 senior members and 47 juniors.
Craig says they are always keen for more.
“It’s a very friendly club and we’ve had another seven join in the last month, which is great.”
The open day begins between 11am-12.30pm for junior members with coach Suzanne Spencer on hand to show them a thing or two.
From 1-4pm the seniors take over and Craig says they make sure players get a good match up, no matter the ability.
