One week left to win $5000 cash

A Nelson shopper will be $5000 richer this time next week.

The six-week Shop Nelson and Win promotion ends next Monday, leaving locals with just a few days to enter the competition.

With a total of 50 businesses taking part in the competition, there have been plenty of opportunities for people to get in the draw and, with just a few days left until the lucky winner is announced, now is the time to make a purchase with a participating retailer and add your entry form to the box.

Shop Nelson and Win is run by Nelson Weekly, in conjunction with Uniquely Nelson, and Uniquely Nelson manager Simon Duffy says the competition has created a “real buzz” in the CBD.

“It’s been fantastic, the retailers have loved it and so have the shoppers. It’s been great to have something like this in what is usually a quieter time of year.”

He says the competition has helped to boost foot traffic and attract shoppers to the Nelson CBD.

Nelson Weekly managing director Andrew Board says he’s excited that the competition is getting down to the final few days.

“We’re rapt with the promotion and how it has gone. It’s the first time the competition has been run in Nelson and the retailers and shoppers have really picked it up. It’s great walking through town and seeing all of the posters and entry boxes and I’m really looking forward to seeing who wins the $5000 cash.”

So far around 40,000 entry forms have been collected, one will be drawn by a police officer early next week and the winner announced in the Nelson Weekly on October 10.

To get yourself in the draw, simply make a purchase, of any amount, with a participating retailer, fill in the entry form and pop it in the box.

A list of participating businesses can be found on page 8 of the Nelson Weekly paper, or you can look out for the Shop Nelson and Win posters in the windows of Nelson retailers taking part.
