Next weekend a plane will touch down on the Nelson Airport tarmac, but the Mission Aviation Fellowships specially modified rescue airplane is not your average plane.

The cessna usually serves MAF overseas, bringing essential services, medical teams, emergency food and aid workers into some of the most remote places on earth.

This is the first time an operational MAF aircraft has been brought to New Zealand where one of its roles will be to train and prepare pilots for the challenging conditions they will face overseas.

Come out to Nelson Aero Club, Hangar 4 at Nelson Airport for a glimpse between 1pm and 4pm on Sunday, April 9.

Visitors will get to view the plane and meet some of the staff of MAF New Zealand who will be on hand to share insights and the latest news from around the world.
