Police are investigating a well-planned theft of two motorcycles from Morely Motorcycles and Marine in Wakatu Estate in Stoke early on Sunday.
The thieves gained entry into Morley’s by cutting through a two metre high security fence and then smashing a rear window and taking an orange KTM 65cc suitable only for a child and a blue Yamaha 250cc dirt bike. Morley’s manager Ian Robinson says the alarms were activated when the window was smashed but the thieves had left the premises before staff arrived.
Ian says the thieves appeared to have accessed Morley’s property through Orphanage Creek Reserve, either from Whakatu Dr or the Bunnings Warehouse end of the reserve. He says it would have been possible for a car with a trailer to drive through the reserve to remove the bikes which have a value of about $8000.
Senior sergeant Blair Hall says they are investigating the burglary and anyone who has any information about the theft, or has seen the bikes, please contact Nelson police on 5463840 or Crimestoppers on 0800555111.
