Wanted Nelson man writes to police on Facebook

The Motueka man wanted by local police has contacted them on Facebook to let them know he is safe.

Police had grave concerns for the safety of 26-year-old Motueka man Cyrus James Harrington who  is wanted after recently breaching bail.

Local police posted on Facebook hoping for information on his whereabouts.

Cyrus replied, “Im safe everyone. thanks to the nelson police for all ya time and effort Great job thank you.”

Police were pleased to hear from Cyrus, but requested he visit the police station as soon as possible.

A police spokesperson says they are still searching for him and believe that he is still in the Tasman District.

Cyrus was last seen leaving his home in Brooklyn, near Motueka, just over a week ago. He is 180 cm tall and has a thin build.

He may be in possession of a knife and should not be approached.

Anyone with information on Harrington’s whereabouts is asked to call police immediately on 111, or can provide anonymous information via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111, or via the online reporting page.
