Adrenalin junkies are snapping up tickets for Nitro Circus’ first visit to Nelson next February, smashing previous records from opening week ticket sales in the major cities.
Nitro Circus will be in Nelson for the first time for a performance at Trafalgar Park on February 6, as part of a six-date national tour.
Tickets went on sale at 9am on Sunday and by the end of Wednesday, almost 4500 had been sold to Nelson fans, the highest number of tickets sold, of all six shows.
During the four days, almost 20,000 tickets were sold for the six dates nationally. Tickets range from $19 – $99 plus a booking fee.
Simon Duffy, Manager of Uniquely Nelson says Nitro Circus should bring a good crowd to Nelson, as the top of the South Island is Nitro country through and through.
“We are extremely excited to have Nitro Circus coming to Nelson for the first time ever as part of the New Zealand 2017 tour.
“This will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for extreme sports enthusiasts to come along and enjoy some of the best motocross, BMX, skateboarding and crazy stunts in their own backyard,” says Simon.
“Being Waitangi Day there should be a good crowd from across the region making the most of the longer days so it will be a busy time for businesses and great for the local economy.”
Two of New Zealand’s own are leading the Nitro Circus charge, riding on home soil for the first time since making global headlines.
Palmerston North FMX rider, Levi Sherwood recently won the world champion title at the Nitro World Games.
Jed “The Warrior” Mildon will also perform; the Taupo man shook the action sports landscape in May 2015 with his unbelievable quadruple BMX backflip — the first ever landed in BMX.
