If the Nelson Giants were lucky to beat the Taranaki Mountainairs by two points midweek, then they had the role reversed on them tonight by the Waitakere Rangers in a tough 98-96 loss.

The Mike Pero Nelson Giants battled back from 10 points down after the opening quarter to be in front by one point heading into the fourth quarter.
They were not able to hold on to the advantage.

Ray Cowels III top scored for the Giants with 25 while veteran Phill Jones added 22 off the bench.
Eric Devendorf had a game high 33 points for the Rangers.
The Giants remain in the hunt for a top four spot and will return to the Trafalgar Centre on Friday night to face the Southland Sharks.
