Four tourists were involved in a traffic collision that closed one lane of the Appleby Highway just before 12.30pm today.

The group had parked their Toyota RAV 4 on the side of the Appleby Highway but failed to give way to a small truck coming up behind them when they pulled out.

Police constable Jamie White says the small truck recieved minimal damage and the male driver was the sole occupant of the truck.

The man has been taken to hospital as a precaution but is not in a serious condition.

Appleby Rural Fire Force, the Richmond Volunteer Fire Brigade, an ambulance and three police units attended the scene.

Both lanes were opened shortly after 1pm and traffic is flowing freely once more.
