Waimea College students took to the stage to entertain locals during their lunchbreak as part of Stage One, a Nelson Arts Festival’s event.
Stage One will see primary and secondary students serenading locals from 11am-2pm each day until October 23.
Today, people gathered in the Trafalgar street square and on the Cathedral steps to listen to several groups perform, including an orchestra, bagpipes, a jazz band and a relaxing two-student acoustic set.
The event is designed to showcase the musical talent of the younger generation and provide the opportunity for them to experience performing in public.
Over the next week, spectators should expect everything from ukulele and kapa haka to jazz, rock and dance.
