Eight teams competed at this weekend’s softball open at Saxton Feild including Nelson’s United Titans and the Stoke Eagles.
This is the competiton’s eighth year and will see a total of 29 games played with the final later this afternoon.
Eagle’s player and event organizer, Derryn French says the teams like competing in Nelson.
“We’ve got a good ballpark and a great atmosphere.”
“The tournament is really important for the community, it gives young players exposure to good softball and the opportunity to play against members of the Black Sox.”
The Saxton diamonds will also host the New Zealand National Mens Club Champs later this year.
