An emerging Christchurch production duo have filmed this spectacular footage flying through Nelson’s Miyazu Japanese Gardens.

Lewis Anderson-Gee and his partner Greer Williams purchased their first professional Quadcopter “drone”, a TBS Discovery Pro, late last year with the vision of starting their own production company Quadcapture.

While visiting our city the local Japanese Gardens took their eye as a great place to film.

“My mum lives up in Nelson so we wanted to get a wee shoot in there. We had driven past the Japanese Gardens before and thought it would be a good place to get a shoot of Nelson.” Lewis says.

“We usually try and stay more out of the city as we don’t want to be flying over people’s houses. That’s when it can start getting a bit complicated.”

Lewis got into remote control hobbies around five years ago and took his first video with a camera attached to a model aeroplane. He now operates a multi-rotor quadcopter with two cameras and a grounded display monitor operated by Greer.

“Some people call them drones or UAVs or whatever other name they’ve got out there. It’s our hobby, it’s not a full time job. We’re pretty much just starting up.”

Lewis says his dream would be to make his hobby a full time job.
