A new warehouse building is going up fast in the Nayland industrial park.

A local wholesaler with national sales, who does not want to be named, has commissioned the build as a warehouse and office space. Construction begun at the end of April.

Ultraspec have taken on the build which is fabricated on site with steel and concrete construction.

“It is starting to grow a tad,” says Ultraspec project manager Tony McIntosh. “We’re pouring the first floor layers on Friday, the actual roof gets lifted on Monday and then we start doing all the cladding before the fit out inside.”

He says one of the unique features of the building is the use of post-tensioned floors.

“Instead of the standard steel in the floor it’s actually a metal strand in a plastic sleeve which then gets tensioned up after the pour during certain stages of the concrete’s cure.”

The build is expected to be completed in November this year.
