Young basketballers will have the chance to meet “NBA Oklahoma City Thunder’s Centre and Big Man” Steven Adams in an up-and-coming basketball camp to be held in August this year.
The camp, designed for 7 to 18 year olds, will be run by Steven Adams along with his guests.
Saxton Stadium has been confirmed as the venue for the camp which is expected to run on the 27th – 28th of August 2015, the two days will consist of age appropriate skills session, coaching and a whole lot of fun for the participants who register for the camp.
Nelson Basketball general manager Andrea Cockburn says she has been working in collaboration with Tony Shallcrass, a long standing Nelson Basketball Association Coach and well-known figure in the NZ Basketball Community, Adams’ Mentor and Kenny McFadden.
“Nelson Basketball Association are delighted to be bringing a basketball camp of this calibre to the region,” she says.
Nelson Basketball Board Chairman Gary Reilly says the opportunity aligns with the Boards strategy to enhance basketball in the region as well as growing the popularity of the sport and identifying future talent.
The camp is still in the planning stages but more details and registrations are expected to be released shortly.
