Waimea College has appointed a new principal, current Motueka High School principal Scott Haines.
Waimea College Board of Trustees undertook a nationwide search for a new principal earlier this year, which generated a large number of enquiries. The quality of the applications received was very high and the final three candidates were of the highest calibre, it says.
Board chair Garry Hammond says they’re excited to have Scott join Waimea.
“Scott brings a wealth of experience in teaching, leadership and across a wider spectrum of skills. His personal attributes are well acknowledged in the Motueka community as well as throughout the national education sector.”
As a former pupil of the college, Scott will automatically bring an element of understanding of the community we serve and its needs, says Garry. Scott says that he feels very privileged to be offered the role and he is looking forward to working with the students, staff, board and community at Waimea College and exploring new opportunities together.
Scott follows on from the Larry Ching who resigned last year after leading the school for 12 years. He will formally take up his role at the start of Term 4 October 12, 2015.
