Lions Club assist our endangered birds

Members of the Nelson Host Lions Club have been busy building a large aviary at Natureland Wildlife Park.

The Aviary has taken members eight days and over 300 hours to build.

The new avery will give Natureland Managers, Meg and Mike Rutledge the opportunity to breed Yellow Crowned Kakariki for eventual release into the Nelson area.

This breed of native parrot is currently endangered and members look forward to the day when these beautiful birds are seen flying free in our area once again.

If readers, male or female, are interested in learning more about the Nelson Host Lions Club and its activities, all are invited to come along and witness the camaraderie at one of their meetings. To contact call the President Colin Borcovsky at 5474182, or Tracy Henderson at 5472130.
