Nelson’s Triple One Care in the Wakatu Industrial Estate benefits from a team that have many years of knowledge and experience in the first aid industry. Triple One Care have recently had an addition to their ranks and would like to welcome the newly appointed Regional manager for Nelson, Tasman and West Coast district, Lisa Mellish.  Lisa has a background in emergency management which started when she began her career with the New Zealand Army, followed by the Red Cross; working as a team leader for the response team on the west coast, which she helped set up and operate, and included her involvement in the Christchurch quakes and Pike River mine. Lisa has also worked with Civil Defence on the West Coast as well as a St John, Ambulance Officer. Supporting her is Brian Robinson; former regional manager, tutor, medic and backbone of the branch who is a current and long-time member of the local Land Search and Rescue team, Louis Standfield; main tutor and medic who is also a current and long-time member and Team Leader of the Nelson Search and Rescue team and Jock Stewart; a part time tutor who is highly experienced and highly recommended. His previous placements include being an instructor for AUT and a paramedic for St John for many years; a job he still maintains part time. “We don’t mind if our tutors/medics go out and work or volunteer part-time for another similar company, in fact it’s beneficial as it gives them a wider range of skills and experiences.  Some people within the industry are hung up on what emergency service is better, my reply to that is, get a grip people, we are all here for the same goal at the end of the day, which is to help people regardless of what emergency service you work for,” says Lisa.

With Triple One Care’s services being in high demand and growing nationally, it only makes sense that the offshoot to that is high demand coming into the Nelson Tasman and West Coast region; needless to say Lisa and her team will be looking for additional medics and tutors in the near future.  Those that do become part of the Triple One Care team must know their stuff in theory and have the practical skills to back it up. “We aren’t volunteers, we’re all paid professionals and we’re highly experienced and that’s how we like to keep it,” says Lisa.  If you think you have what it takes, contact Triple One Care today.
