Part of the Dunn Mountain trail between Four Corners and Third House has been closed due to a slip caused by heavy wind and high rainfall last Friday and Saturday.
Options are being considered to repair the track which is closed until further notice. Council engineers and contractors are assessing the damage.
Chair of the Works and Infrastructure Committee, Councillor Eric Davy, says maintenance on the tracks is important as Nelson has always had a very high standard of walkways and cycleways.
“Whilst this drop out caused by the storm is unfortunate, safety is our primary concern, and we need to make sure the track is fully operational again before we can open it to the public.
“Council staff are working to ensure that happens as soon as possible,” says Councillor Davy.
